Contributing
your
expertise,
knowledge
and
experience
can
help
a
youth
be
successful
in
academic
and
social
interactions,
and
beyond
that,
there
is
something
in
it
for
you:
- You will develop a close relationship with your mentee
- You will be re-energized personally
- You will increase your commitment to your own career, and positively impact your organization
- You will learn more by talking about and teaching others
- You will increase your empathy, listening, caring and building trust skills; these attributes will spill over to other parts of your life
- You will grow more confident
- You will play an important part in the achievement of your mentee's goals, and
- You will enhance your own self-esteem because it just feels good to help others, and it feels good to give.
